    COM21 ComCONTROLLER

Service providers can deploy this feature-rich controller in a cable headend, a distribution hub or a network center. It easily connects data networks to existing coaxial or HFC cable networks. The
ComCONTROLLER allows support of multiple protocols with filtering and authentication to enhance network security.

    • Robust, Hogh-Speed Architecture. The CC2100 provides 30Mbps downstream speed in a single 6MHz channel. It will support up to twelve 2.56Mbps receive channels for an aggregate upstream rate of 30Mbps.

    • Modular, Expandable Design. The ComCONTROLLER multi-slot chassis supports up to 2000 modems and accommodates all transmit, receive, WAN, power supply and control modules. As network traffic grows, the service provider simply adds hot-pluggable modules without disturbing service to existing subscribers.

    • Multiple Service Levels. Com21's ATM-based architecture provides up to 16 configurable classes of service - each with unique upstream and downstream data rates. An operator can offer users the bandwidth and service needed, and bill users accordingly.

    • Private, Secure Virtual Networks. Virtual LANs and DES encryption (with key management) furnish a secure, robust method of providing multiple private networks from a single system.

    • Multi-Protocol Support. The versatile ComCONTROLLER provides industry-leading support for multiple standard protocols such as IP, IPX, Appletlak and NETBEUI, with configurable filters to ensure network security.

    COM21 ComPORT

    The
ComPORT? cable modem and ComUNITY Access? system connects residential, commercial and educational subscribers to the Internet, on-line entertainment services and enterprise LANs. And does so at blazing, multi-megabit speeds.

    • Spectral Efficiency. The ComUNITY Access system provides a 30-Mbps transmission rate in a 6 MHz downstream channel. It will support up to twelve 2.56 Mbps/1.8 MHz upstream channels for an aggregate transmission rate of 30 Mbps.

    • High-Speed Data Transfer. ComPORT's 10BASE-T port delivers 10 Mbps to the PC.

    • Multiple Service Levels. Service providers can assign a ComPORT to one of many service classes which can be rate-controlled from 100 Kbps to 10 Mbps. This lets the provider offer subscribers the data rate and service they need, and bill them accordingly.

    • Multiple Users per Modem. Up to eight users are supported on each ComPORT via a standard 10BASE-T port. This offers a low-cost way for small or home offices to build high-speed networks.

    • Data security. DES encryption and public key management ensure secure upstream and downstream data communications.

    • Remote Corporate Networking. Each ComPORT can be assigned to Virtual LANs (VLANs) to ensure dedicated bandwidth and connectivity for secure telecommuting and small office / home applications.

    • Plug & Play. ComPORT is easy to install and completely self-configuring from power up. Front-mounted LEDs indicate ComPORT status.

    COM21 NMAPS

Capable of monitoring and managing your entire cable data network,
NMAPS (Network Management and Provisioning System) software delivers high-end performance that builds revenue while substantially reducing your maintenance and support costs.

    • Unified Cable Modem Management. NMAPS is a single system that configures and controls the ComPORT? and ComCONTROLLER. It handles subscriber provisioning, software downloading, performance monitoring, fault alarms, field inventory, auto discovery and remote troubleshooting diagnostics.

    • Convenient, Cost-Effective Control. With the click of a mouse, this powerful management system allows the NMAPS operator to remotely detect and diagnose network problems from a single workstation. This reduce maintenance costs by minimizing truck-rolls and site visits.

    • Bandwidth Management. The NMAPS operator can use Quality of Service (QoS) management controls to create up to 16 different service levels which specify subscriber bandwidth or services types. This enables providers to offer different services to residential and business users priced to reflect usage, value and demand.

    • Easy to Use. The NMAPS graphical user interface (GUI) is intuitive and user-friendly, yet offers the power and flexibility needed to manage a multi-headend network. The GUI features a convenient toolbar with hot buttons that provided frequently-used system and subscriber-management functions.

    • Enables High-Value Coporate Network Extensions. Virtual LAN (VLAN) management allows you to establish private sub-networks -- within a ComCONTROLLER chassis -- while providing dedicated bandwidth for guaranteed throughput and encryption for security.

    • Early Fault Detection. NMAPS offers high network visibility and control via a suite of configurable alarms, diagnostic tools and performance monitoring features. These are used to detect and correct minor problems before they become major ones.

    • High Capacity. A single NMAP station can scale to manage as many as 50 ComCONTROLLERs and 100,000 cable modems -- without performance degradation -- via a powerful object-oriented database. In addition, NMAPS will manage compatible cable modems.
