and a secure audio scrambling mode.
- Advanced digital video processing
- Four video scrambling modes,
selectable by the operator
- Integrated scrambling of one
stereo or two individual audio signals
- Individually addressable up
to 1,000,000 subscribers capacity
- One to Four channels per 3RU
high chassis
- Controllable via standard
bi-directional serial interface or Ethernet
- In-band (VBI) data transmission
with operator selectable addressing rate
- Support 16 individual program
keys for up to 255 channels
- Converter control data supported

DECODER
The Pacific Converter is an affordable, fully addressable
set-top converter that combines the power of reliable decoding
with the conveniences of a full-featured converter. Capable
of decoding both video and audio signals, the Pacific Converter
is used in cable and MMDS systems that require security from
signal theft and outstanding video quality at a low-cost. The
Pacific converters, incorporate PhaseKrypt ® scrambling technology from Macrovision, are
specifically designed for use with the Pacific Endcoders and
Subscriber Management Software.

SUBSCRIBER MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE
The PACIFIC Subscriber Management Software is a PC-based user
interface package that is designed to control the encryption
system from the headend or central office. The Subscriber Management
Software allows authorization of a set-top converter in each
subscriber's home and management of each subscriber's record,
including personal details such as subscription and payment
history. Furthermore, the Subscriber Management Software tracks
all converters in the network, whether in-use by a subscriber,
under repair, or en route to a subscriber's home. It operates
from a Windows? environment
with easy-to-use on-screen display and menu option. To meet
the demand of Pay Per View programs, the system has been designed
with a Fast Authorization PPV function. Decoders are authorized
sither at ab 'instant hit' or authorization rate of up to once
per minute in a network with 30,000 subscribers.
- Completely menu-driven, user
friendly

SYSTEM
PACIFIC PhaseKrypt ®
Pay TV System is a transmission scrambling system that brings
extremely low cost decoding to operators of large, private video
networkd. The system includes the Encoder, Subscriber Management
Software, install on a IBM? compatible
personal computer and set-top converter.
The PhaseKrypt ®
Pay TV system is completely controlled by an IBM?
compatible PC connected to the
encoder with an easy-to-use Window?
based user interface. Through
the Subscriber Management Software, the operator has complete
control over the four video scrambling modes as well as the
secure audio scrambling mode. The encoders accept a standard
PAL (or NTSC) basaeband input and provide a scrambled baseband
output based on PhaseKrypt ® encryption technology developed by Macrovision
for transmission on standard video links. The encoder supports
16 program keys for up to 255 channels with a subscriber capacity
of over 1,000,000. The set-top converter is a fully addressable
TV set-top converter. Besides its function as a full range TV
converter, it provides complete descrambling function for a
highly secure MMDS and TV cable scrambling system.
A complete PhaseKrypt ®
Pay TV system overview, including the headend, is shown in the
above diagram.
